Julian Haffner is a business attorney by trade, he is currently Of Counsel with the Bethesda-based law firm of Longman & Van Grack where he represents entrepreneurs and small businesses in a range of industries.


A long-time community activist, Julian is an active and committed leader of several community organizations. In 2014 he was elected to serve on the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee representing District 17. He is the current Vice President and former Communications Director  of the Association of Black Democrats, and former chair of the NAACP of Montgomery County’s Economic Development Committee. In his work, he has always focused on removing the barriers that prevent and discourage engaged participation while building bridges to opportunity.


Throughout his career Julian has been a leading advocate for small businesses in Maryland. In 2015 he was appointed by the County Council to serve as a member of the Minority Owned and Local Small Business Task Force where he was tasked with studying and recommending improvements to the County’s procurement program. Additionally, Julian is a founding member of the Board of Directors of The Democratic Business Council of Maryland, as well as the Maryland Black Business Chamber of Commerce. Julian understands the needs of small businesses and is dedicated to ensuring their voices are heard in Annapolis. 


Julian is dedicated to using his skills and experience to bring much-needed accessibility and transparency to our state government, to ensure our schools prepare our kids to compete in a 21st century economy, to protect and support the diversity and unique character of our County, and to be at all times available and accountable to the residents of District 17.
